The Buzz Is All About Puggles
by Joe Shortsleeve
BOSTON (CBS4) ―
In the pet business, Puggles are the buzz. They are the hot dog.
Simply put, they are a cross between a Pug and a Beagle, and the result is a Puggle.
At Pet Express in Lynn, if you want one, you have to get on a wait list.
"It's a two to three-week turnaround on them, which is relatively quick but people don't want to wait, but we are getting them for them," says John Mellace, a pet shop owner.
Ann Riley is a Puggle owner. She was on the wait list for a couple of weeks.
"When we were at the vet with our other dog, some woman had one, we said 'what is it?' She said, 'a Puggle.' We did some research and then we came down here. These guys got us one," says Riley.
So, how much will you pay for a Puggle? A year ago, $500 to $700. Today, it will cost $1,200 because they are hard to find.
There are also Schnoodles for sale, which are a cross between a Schnauser and a Poodle. But they are not on the A list. Right now, that's just for Puggles.
