Police: Dad Passed Out Drunk In Truck With Toddler

FRAMINGHAM (CBS4) ― A father in Framingham has been charged with driving drunk, after police say they found him passed out at an intersection with his 3-year-old daughter sleeping next to him in his pickup truck.

Framingham Police Lt. Paul Shastany said 24-year-old Luis Lala Lema told officers he had "lots" to drink after they woke him up around 5 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Mellen and Winthrop Streets.

A caller put Lema's truck in park, while the little girl tried to wake her father up. She fell asleep, but the truck was still running when officers arrived.

Police tried to wake Lema up, but failed. Several minutes later, they say he sat up, tried to put the truck in gear, couldn't do it, and tried to go back to sleep. That's when officers pulled him out and arrested him.

The little girl was taken to her mother. Lema was arraigned Monday in Framingham District Court. He's charged with child endangerment, driving drunk, and driving without a license.
