Many Gather At Esplanade To Watch July 4th Preps

It almost doesn't seem like rehearsal day at the Esplanade on Monday – the good weather seems to be drawing tons of people to the banks of the Charles River in Boston.
Whether they came from far away, or from just around the corner, the patriotic faithful flocked to the Esplanade for the Fourth of July celebration. Decked out in their holiday best, friends and family camped out to get the best seats for Monday night's dress rehearsal of a show deemed to be one of most star-studded event ever.
People are ready for this evening's practice – they have their blankets ready, umbrellas and food on hand, and they say they are ready for a stellar performance. Many people came to the Hatch Shell to watch Steven Tyler and Joe Perry belt out some tunes with the Boston Pops.
One spectator said the band's sound check was all he needed to hear to pull up a chair and wait at the gates. "I was really impressed with Aerosmith and said that I couldn't leave, so I said I was going to stay… and now we are camping out."
Although the weather for tonight's dress rehearsal is clear, Tuesday's show might have a couple of raindrops to contend with. CBS4's Ken Barlow says showers and thunderstorms will enter the region in the afternoon, but if all goes well, the front should be offshore by sunset, which will create more favorable viewing prospects for the fireworks.
